Swann SW231

Since 1988, Swann has been at the forefront of the security monitoring industry. It focuses on developing innovative and cost effective products that are aimed at home users and small and medium sized businesses. Because Swann aims its products at an audience that doesn’t have devoted security departments on staff to install and operate the systems, they offer security solutions that are do it yourself, are plug and play, and come with easy to follow, foolproof instructions. They even offer full technical support if you do end up needing some help with installation. If you have something that needs protected, here are some of the best swann wireless security cameras for your home or business.

Swann SW231

The Swann SW231 is a weatherproof and wireless outdoor camera from Swann that comes fully equipped with night vision and infrared sensors. The infrared vision can peer up to twenty-five feet, even in complete darkness and the daytime images pops to life with 380 TV lines fron up to 330 feet away. In both situations, the camera has a sixty degree viewing angle. It’s not HD-quality, but for a camera in its price range, the image quality is very good.
The camera works on the 2.4 GhZ frequency, which gives you up to one hundred and fifty feet to place the camera around the receiver. Unfortunately, because these cameras work on the 2.4 GhZ channel, they are prone to some interference, but they do have four different frequencies available. But, because its wireless, this camera can be up and running in less than five minutes with the included swivel mount to easily position it.

The image quality on the Swann SW231 could be better, same with the audio quality, and because its wireless you’re prone to some interference, but in this price range you can’t ask for much more from a camera. If you want one that performs much better, be prepared to open your wallet as well.

Swann Nighthawk 2

Swann Nighthawk 2

The Swann Nighthawk 2 boasts a camera capable of 380 TV lines during daytime shots and infrared sensors capable of giving you up to twenty six feet of vision even in the blackest nights. The camera also comes with a built in microphone that can detect audio up to nine feet away and the camera has a fifty-three degree viewing range.

The camera runs on 12V power and comes with a weather-resistant housing that can keep the camera operating in temperatures ranging from -14 to 122 degree Fahrenheit. It’s also plug and play and the wireless 2.4 GhZ transmitter lets you place the cameras up to 165 feet away from the receiver. The receiver then plugs into any TV, VCR, or security camera.

Because this camera runs on the 2.4 GhZ frequency, it is prone to interference from other electronics, especially wireless routers or other wi-fi devices and this is its one downfall. However, the Nighthawk is one of the best selling do it yourself cameras on the market for a reason. It’s great for everyday use by consumers and for its price it offers an amazingly clear picture.
